Hello Again!Beautiful Features...
I am very happy to tell you that I recently assumed ownership of Sublime Rush from the amazing RockstarVanity. I know I have some awesome shoes to fill there, but I am really looking forward to keeping the momentum of the magazine going. I have quite a few interviews lined up with some amazing artists around the world. There will be an In Review & Preview Issue at the end of August and then Issue 008 will be out at the end of October.
Send me a note here if you are interested in being in Sublime Rush or contributing, or email email@example.com.
And if you are not familiar, you can check out the magazine here: www.sublimerush.com (http://www.sublimerush.com/)
I have been trying to keep up with stuff over at 4bstr4ct4rt more lately. I think a few people thought the
Things That Changed Other Things
The Sketchbook Project 2011 Tour was created by the Arthouse Co-op in Brooklyn, NY. It is the fifth tour with many themes for the artists to choose from. Iaian Greenson (DoctorBalls), from Toronto, Canada, chose the theme "Things That Changed Other Things". His sketchbook explores this theme with 73 pages of beautiful artwork. As Iaian's sketchbook tours the US he will be notified each time a person looks at his work of art. Each journal on the tour will have a barcode and will be checked out by the viewer like a library book. Eventually his sketchbook will make it back to the Brooklyn Art Library to be part of their permanent collection.
Check out the sketchbook on the tour if you can. Otherwise you can see Iaian's sketchbook here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/58747210N07/sets/72157625905407970/

Interesting Color PalletsSitting here a little bummed that my long weekend is almost over and I will have to go back to the grind tomorrow. I am ridiculously behind on some projects, but I need to get everything done before my little trip to Canada next week. I best get busy!
As I was faving a ton of stuff from my watch folder today, I thought that "interesting colour pallets" would make a nice feature...

Whoa...!!! :-) + Violet FeaturesChecked my messages this morning to be greeted by someone congratulating me on the senior status. I have to admit, I was happily surprised. And it is an honor to have it happen on Deviant's birthday.
Thanks to everyone who stopped to say congrats. And thanks to everyone who watches me and my art.
Special thanks to Senecal. I have mentioned it before, but he has been a huge influence on me over the past few years. One thing he has always stressed to me is having a sense of community. I have tried other online art communities out there, and I have to say, dA has been one of the best. All of the art and the people have really been an inspiration.
Okay, enough of all that. Some violet features for you all!

Diagram of a Scam LetterRecently I had someone send me a note on Etsy expressing interest in purchasing one of my artworks, "Jupiter Surfaces". At first I was excited to make a sale, but then I began to analyze the note. I thought, I wonder who this is that they need to be so private about the sale um, answer is that it is a scam to get my money.
I thought I would share this, with a little break down of it, for all of you who sell your art or crafts online.
"RE: Jupiter Surfaces, Item # xxxx:
I am interested in the immediate purchase of your item and will be make payment via cashier check/money order, my private shipping company will handle the shipping, but before payment will be made i need to be sure of who i am dealing with if you are going to be honest and sincere throughout the transaction. A certified cashiers check is cash-able the same day, there is going to be an excess fund on the check ,the excess fund is meant for the private shipping company who will come to your place for pick up of the ite

IdolizationIdolization is a strange and dangerous thing.
Yet we all do it. Either aware or unaware.
It all starts when we see an artist here whose work we like a lot.
Most of us have been there. Seeing the work of an artists that hits a soft spot in you, for whatever reason that might be.
You admire it, but at the same time you feel sad because you realize your level is still miles away from this artist, and you will probably never be able to do the same.
But despite everything, you start following this person. And you keep following him.
Because somewhere deep in your soul, you hold the believe --or rather, hope-- that when you watch it long enough, it will reveal it's tricks.
That it will inspire you in some way. And that you'll be able to do the same.
Unconsciously, we all build images of our idol.
It's human nature, I guess. We fill in all the blanks. The things that we don't know from this person.
Because an idol isn't a person anymore at that point. It has become an ico

Artists beware! Thieves trying to steal passwordsEvery once in a while i get someone trying to hack into my facebook or deviantart. Lately someone sent me a link to a fake tumblr log in screen trying to steal my tumblr password. that person is obsidianwingsofmidnight.tumblr.com
Yes, i am making this public so that people know what kind of person obsidianwingsofmidnight is and be aware of messages from him/her.
this person claims they were hacked as well. That might or might not be true, either way i don't want to go hunting them down, just be careful of ANYONE sending you links, especially people you never talked to before.
A note for every deviant out there.
HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM PASSWORD THIEVES:
1. Start out by having a very strong password. Having passwords that have numbers and symbols (*!@#$%) is a great way to start, but a sure way of having a strong password is just having a very long one. I saw an article where it said that nothing beats a long password, So it's better to have a long passw

PE: Sketches and sketchbooksSketches and sketchbooks
Big, marvellous, elaborate, finished paintings and drawings you can see in various stunning galleries on dA and outside dA, while they require time and can occupy artist's workspace even for months, in a lot of cases make a small percentage of created pictures lying around the creator's desk. Sketches aren't just noted concepts or a stage in preparing an artwork - a couple of sketches a day can be the most influential source of improving your skills.
You have probably been through this more than once - far from your room, you got struck with a brilliant idea. In diffrent circumstances you'd most likely rush to transfer it onto paper or canvas, but well, that might be not so easy in a classroom or on a bus. It can be difficult even if you're home - how about more than one idea at once? Using a sketchbook as a notepad for any concepts is by far

Genghis Whenever we were bad my mother used to take us to the mall to see Genghis Kahn. They kept him in a dusty diorama of a Mongolian steppe, all tall grass and yurts. He sat on a throne of bone (well, plastic shaped like bone), scowling in incomprehension at the American kids who flocked around him like startled lemmings. My mother would usually push us toward him, saying things like “Tell him what you did to your father’s stamp collection.” Genghis would give a grunt, spit a wad of phlegm onto the tall grass, and give us a wizened, wrinkled grimace, as if he had to go to the bathroom.
He terrified me.
My brother couldn’t get enough of him.
When my brother got caught in my mother’s evening dress, my mother grabbed us both and dragged us to Genghis. It was a slow day, and we were the only kids crowding him. “Tell him what you did,” my mother hissed a
Keep in Touch!
Lilyas has dedicated herself to making our community a brighter place with her vibrant artwork and infectious enthusiasm for interacting with others in our community. It has certainly paid off, as many deviants flock to her page on a daily basis to let her know how much of an inspiration she is. We absolutely agree, and couldn't let all that hard work go without recognition, so it's with great pride that we bestow the Deviousness Award for March 2014, to ... Read More
